Obituary for Janet Adele Coumas

Janet Coumas was witty and funny with, in her own words, a twisted sense of humor. She embraced her husband Pete’s Greek heritage and learned to speak a little Greek and prepare Greek cuisine, including a great baklava. She loved her books and movies and was a loyal friend.

Before health problems caused her memory to fail, she was a great resource for family lore and was a whiz with an internet search engine. She could probably find anything online; she just kept digging.

She remained inquisitive and, despite downplaying her own cooking skills, was always discovering cooking hacks, special ingredients and tools to surprise her chef daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Ackerman (married to Paul), son Greg (married to Lori Delarm) and son Steven. She loved her grand-dog Katie, a beautiful Labrador.

She is predeceased by her husband Pete (Cornelius) and grandson Kyle Coumas who was KIA in Afghanistan in 2009.
