Obituary for Clifford Earl Gillit

Clifford E Gillit, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Hospice House of San Joaquin on April 16, 2021.
He was born March 16, 1934 in French Camp, CA and spent his life in Manteca, CA after serving 2 years in the Army and 4 years in the National Guard.
Clifford married the love of his life Shirley and would have celebrated 65 years this July 14th.
Cliff leaves behind his loving wife Shirley Gillit. Children: Raleigh Gillit of Manteca, CA, Dan (Teresa) Gillit of Farr West, Utah and Denise Gillit of Spokane, Wa. Grandchildren: Shanan (Matt) Gonzales of Sonora, CA, Jennifer (Amy) Burton of Oakdale, CA and Eli Gillit-Silva of Spokane, WA. Great grandchildren: Mathew and Korey Gonzales of Sonora, CA. He also leaves behind many brothers and sisters: Cleo Gillit of Riverbank, CA, Leonard Lile of Salida, CA, Walter Lile of New Mexico, Charlie Gillit of Walnut Grove, CA, Elsie Medeiros of Manteca, CA, Frances Henson of Missouri, Linda Andujo of Fernley, NV and Carolyn Gillit of Conyers, GA.
He worked as a welder for 33 years and retired from Tuff Boy Trailers. Though many who knew him know he never really retired. He always found a new project to work on, whether it be a tractor, engine, or project at the house. He could fix anything and would help anyone with anything.
Active member of Valley Tractor Pullers Association and Western Heritage Engines Antiques Tractors, Inc. and pulled an array of Case and Alice Chalmer tractors over 37 years. His love for family, friends, tractors and engines was abundant.
Services will be held in the chapel at Park view Cemetery 3661 E. French Camp Rd, Manteca CA on Wednesday April 28th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice House of San Joaquin 3888 Pacific Ave, Stockton CA 95204.
